PATRICK GREEN DRUM CARDER
CIRCA MID 1980'S

AT THAT TIME I SWITCHED OVER TO SENDING MY WASHED FLEECES OUT TO BE TURNED INTO ROVING, AS I HAD A LARGE NUMBER THAT NEED TO BE WORKED UP AND WAS GETTING BEHIND DOING EVERYTHING MY SELF. WHEN LAST USED IT WAS WORKING PERFECTLY. ALL IT NEEDS ARE NEW BELTS AND SOME SERIOUS OILING...

BELT CONFIGURATION FOR LEFT SIDE
Unfortunately one or two new belts will need
to be purchased due to the age of the Carder, to even get started with
the Hand Crank - Two for the Motor Drive Use. Having been stored
where it often got quite hot, the plastic cord belts got very brittle
over the years. One of the Belts shattered on its own already in
storage and the other is severely discolored and stiff. Mounting
it in the above configuration would most likely break it instantly. |
ACCESSORIES and TOOLS
Viewing from left to right -- Carder Tie Down Clamps, Hand Crank, Doffer, Connection Pin to hold Motor in place, Flicker Card/Doffer Brush, and to the very far right - part of the old, brittle Belt . The same belting material was used to go between the motor pulley and the carder big drum pulley. Not seen, a Second Large Drum for Finer Fiber Carding - Never Used, never out of the box... |
