| A few
years ago I had my son Steve cut Deer
in Forest by White Tail LTD for a friend of mine. HOWEVER, that rendition was
not a true 3-D - the Scene was on just one layer, with a spacer between it and
the back. Looking at the pattern, I was sure that pattern could be
redone as a true 3-Dimensional Design. I had my wife Phoebe work it over,
and this is the result of the Design's makeover. The front layer with the large trees was cut from Cherry, the second layer with the Deer is Maple, the back layer with smaller trees was cut from Black Walnut, and finally a solid backer of Luan Plywood with the same "cloned" edge as the other layers was cut . All layers were dipped in Tung Oil before being glued together. The finished piece has the following dimensions: At the Widest point - 7.8", at the Highest Point - 5.2", and it is 0.75" thick on the edge. It can be place on a stand or hung on a wall for display. This Piece was completed the 3rd week of January 2012. |
