PEREGRINE FALCON
This pattern is copyrighted by Jacob and Wayne
Fowler. Shown from both sides is this strong looking piece suitable for
display on desk, mantle, bookshelf, or just about anywhere, especially where
there is a back light source. Notice how the wood's color variation is
used to accent the bird's probable color shading - right photo.
The dimensions of the bird figure are 8 3/8" High
by 7" Wide due to its more forward stance on its perch. The stand
make it an additional 1 3/8" Higher, with a 3 1/4" base Depth,
by 7 3/4" base Width.
The wood used for this particular piece is a 1/2"
Thick piece of Black Walnut. The bird is screwed onto a unique oval base
made from a single piece of knotty, highly figured Apple Wood, whose two-step
height was achieved by carefully cutting the inner oval at a slight biased
angle, then push fitting it up firmly into the outer oval ring.
The Falcon was given to Dave Crosby, the artist's father, as
a farewell gift when he left Washington State in early 2004.
