FLOWER GARDEN

This pattern is copyrighted by John & Sheila Polhemus.  Shown from both sides is this lovely, delicate piece.  The pattern is suitable for both hanging and standup versions (shown with tabs to insert into a base block).  The standup version is suitable for display on a windowsill, mantle, or other shelf surface, but lends itself best where there is a back light source.  The piece could be done without the tabs, with hanger added, to hang on a light or dark colored wall depending on wood color, or in a window area.
The dimension of the body of this piece as shown is 5 1/2" by 5 1/2", minus the tabs.  The wood used for the above piece is a highly Figured piece of Sycamore Wood, in a 1/4" Thickness.  It's tabs fit into a base block which is 3/4" Thick by 7 1/2" Long by 2" Deep with gently sloping sides and rounded ends.
I gave this piece to my mother for her birthday in 2004.  In 2007 I had a Commission Sale for this work, which I did in nicely Figured Grained Apple Wood for both parts.  That one is owned by Terri Shelburn of Granite Falls, NC.

THIS PIECE ADDED FALL 2007
